Types of Membership
Native American - One who is a lineal descendent of any of the ancient
Native tribes of the Americas. They shall be entitled to all privelages, including the right to vote. Members
must be present to vote.* It is the policy of the PFPA that at least 60% of members must be of Native American descent.*
Associate - One who is not a descendent of any Native tribe of the Americas, but who is interested in
the work or purposes of the Association. He/she shall be entitled to all privelages of membership, including the right
to vote. Members must be present to vote.*
Absentee - One who is a previous active adult member who cannot attend the monthly general meetings on
a regular basis due to reason of employment conflict, college obligations, geographic residence, inability, health restrictions
or other causes. The member must apply for and receive this status. He/she is entitled to all privelages
including the right to vote provided they have attended three meetings, contributed to one association event that calendar
year, and are present to vote.*
Auxiliary - One who is an adult and is unable to attend more than 4 general meetings per year due to employment,
distance, college or medical restrictions. He/she is entitled to all privelages of membership except the right to vote
or chair a committee. He/she must participate in at least 3 Association events per calendar year in order to keep
their membership status.*
Honorary - One who has contributed in a great manner to the work and purpose of the Association.
Nominations may be made by any member in good standing. Acceptance will be subject to a vote by the membership.
He/she will be entitled to all privelages except the right to vote.*
Junior - One who is a descendent of ancient Native Americans, under 18 years of age, or is unemancipated
due to college or other circumstances. He/she shall be entitled to all privelages of membership except the right
to vote. He/she must apply for membership under an adult member sponsor. The sponsor shall be responsible for
the Junior.*
Junior Associate - One who is not a descendent of Native Americans, under 18 years of age, or is unemancipated
due to college or other circumstances. He/she shall be entitled to all privelages of membership except the right
to vote. He/she must apply for membership under an adult member sponsor. The sponsor shall be responsible for
the Junior.*
